What is Amarish?

I’m a mama to 4 kiddos…2 bio and 2 adopted from Ethiopia. In Ethiopia the native language is Amharic…our first language is English…Amarish is a mixing of these two languages. It’s a word I made it up to describe how we were talking in our house when our kids first came home, but it has come to represent so much more. This is our journey through life with our unique and God designed family. One of our children is HIV+. This is a big part of our journey and I want to talk about it. So here it is – the combining of languages, cultures and families, the mixture of good and bad, wonderful and devastating that is our life…Amarish.
